As a reflection of our current needs and planned growth we are very pleased to offer an opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Senior Vice President, Head of Communications. The Senior Vice President, Head of Communications is the enterprise steward of The Aspen Group’s (TAG) narrative, reputation, and employee voice. This leader defines how TAG shows up internally and externally across a diverse, high-growth portfolio of healthcare brands, ensuring clarity, trust, and alignment at scale. This role sits at the intersection of brand, commercial strategy, culture, and change. The SVP provides senior-level counsel and direction during moments of transformation, growth, and reputational risk, ensuring clarity, consistency, and confidence in how the company shows up.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of communications leadership experience, including building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-level communications strategies aligned to commercial and business objectives.
  • Exceptional ability to help leaders define messages that are clear, concise, persuasive, and credible.
  • Deep experience providing trusted counsel to senior executives within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong change management orientation, with demonstrated success supporting transformation and adoption.
  • Data-driven mindset, with experience leveraging metrics and insights to guide strategy and measure impact.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with high attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience navigating healthcare-adjacent environments (healthcare, retail healthcare, services, or regulated industries) strongly preferred.
  • Preferred location is Chicago, IL onsite, but Remote candidates will be considered if you are comfortable with frequent travel.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Narrative & Communications Strategy Serve as the architect and steward of TAG’s enterprise-wide communications strategy, ensuring consistency and clarity across brands, audiences, and channels.
  • Translate commercial, brand, and business strategy into clear, human communication that leaders, team members, clinicians, and partners can understand and act on.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Commercial & Brand Officer to align communications with go-to-market strategy, brand positioning, and growth priorities.
  • Act as a senior advisor to the CEO and executive team on enterprise messaging, narrative framing, and high-stakes communications.
  • Internal Communications & Organizational Alignment Oversee internal communications for a 20,000+ person workforce spanning multiple brands, care settings, and geographies.
  • Support a modern internal communications ecosystem that delivers the right message, through the right channels, at the right moments.
  • Create shared context during periods of change - operating model shifts, growth initiatives, transformation programs - so teams understand the “why,” not just the “what.”
  • Elevate leadership communication at all levels and strengthen frontline connection to TAG’s mission, values, and commercial priorities.
  • External Communications & Reputation Management Oversee enterprise external communications, including corporate messaging, executive positioning, media strategy, and thought leadership.
  • Shape and protect TAG’s reputation across earned, owned, and shared channels, in close partnership with Brand, Marketing, and PR leadership.
  • Ensure internal and external narratives are tightly aligned, reinforcing credibility, trust, and brand integrity.
  • Crisis, Issues & Change Leadership Serve as the seniormost communications counselor during crises, issues, and reputational risk moments.
  • Anticipate emerging risks and guide leaders through high-stakes decisions with sound judgment and calm execution.
  • Lead change communications efforts with a deep understanding of how change impacts adoption, engagement, and trust.
  • Act as official company spokesperson where required.
  • Digital, Social & Real-Time Engagement Own enterprise social care and real-time engagement strategy, treating digital channels as an extension of the patient and employee experience.
  • Leverage social listening and employee feedback to inform broader communications strategy, operational insights, and brand decision-making.
  • Ensure the organization shows up with empathy, accountability, and consistency in public and internal conversations.
  • Team Leadership & Capability Building Lead and develop a high-performing communications organization (~20 professionals) spanning internal communications, corporate communications, crisis/issues, reputation management, and social care.
  • Build modern communications capabilities that scale with a growing, multi-brand portfolio.
  • Foster a culture of strategic thinking, accountability, and excellence under pressure.
  • Navigate complex, matrixed stakeholder environments to build alignment and drive outcomes.
