WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR The Senior Vice President (SVP), Claims Advocacy – Management & Financial Lines leads the claims advocacy strategy and execution for complex management and professional liability claims, including Directors & Officers (D&O), Professional Liability / Errors & Omissions (E&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary, Crime/Fidelity, and Cyber. The individual in this role provides proactive coverage and claims strategy guidance, oversees the claims lifecycle from notice through resolution, and escalates matters with insurers and external stakeholders to achieve timely, equitable outcomes aligned with policy intent and client objectives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive claims, legal, or insurance experience with a focus on Management & Financial Lines.
  • Property and Casualty License from state of domicile is required and must be maintained.
  • Demonstrated expertise in coverage interpretation, complex claims strategy, and insurer negotiations.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex claims and stakeholder relationships simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required to maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and others.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word).
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Strong ability to listen, discern, prioritize, and negotiate with clients and insurance carrier representatives based on a deep understanding of relevant issues.
  • Ability to evaluate and make decisions, recognize potential conflicts and observe appropriate precautions.
  • Ability to function effectively under tight time constraints, consistently meet strict deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
  • Ability to travel as required by business need.

Nice To Haves

  • Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics or other related field preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or RPLU preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or advanced legal/claims designation preferred.
  • Surplus Lines License strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a national brokerage or complex claims advocacy environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the senior claims advocate and strategic advisor for Management & Professional Lines claims, providing executive‑level counsel to clients, producers, and internal leadership.
  • Leads proactive coverage analysis and claims strategy, advising on claim readiness, early positioning, and risk mitigation to optimize outcomes.
  • Works across the specialty practice to align claims process and technology to create consistency and alignment across claims teams.
  • Owns oversight of the full claims lifecycle, establishing strategy from initial notice through resolution while ensuring alignment with client objectives and coverage intent.
  • Chairs claims review and strategy meetings, delivering executive‑level reporting, risk assessments, and clear recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Acts as the primary senior liaison with insurers, claims executives, and external counsel to resolve complex coverage, defense, and settlement issues.
  • Directs escalation of high‑severity, disputed, or delayed claims, utilizing formal escalation protocols and senior market relationships to drive resolution.
  • Provides strategic guidance on defense counsel selection, settlement authority, and negotiation strategy, partnering closely with clients and legal advisors.
  • Leads claim and reserve reviews, identifying trends, systemic issues, and root causes to inform broader risk and insurance strategies.
  • Translates claims data and experience into actionable insights that support renewal strategy, market negotiations, and program structure.
  • Advises on policy wording enhancements and service improvements, leveraging claims outcomes to strengthen coverage intent and client protection.
  • Serves as a senior technical and thought leader for producers, account teams, and practice leaders across Management & Professional Lines.
  • Contributes to strategic planning and evolution of the Management & Professional Lines practice, including service model development and differentiation.
  • Designs and delivers advanced internal and client‑facing claims education, elevating claims literacy, preparedness, and value perception.
  • Performs other projects, duties, and tasks, as assigned.
