The Senior Vessel Operator is a USCG licensed operator who operates and supports NV5’s hydrographic survey vessels, ranging in size from 21ft – 75ft. This position requires a high level of organization, previous experience in vessel operations management with demonstrated leadership skills to navigate safely. The Senior Vessel Operator coordinates all maintenance associated with the vessel, shipyard repairs, shop and facility assistance, and mobilization and demobilization of survey projects, with the Vessel Master. This role is key to maintaining a strong safety culture on the vessel and ensure that all crew members are working safely and clearly understand their duties. The Senior Vessel Operator will report to the Director of Marine Operations. While the vessels are primarily located in Newport, NC, the Senior Vessel Operator will be expected to travel for an extended time based on the requirements of the project’s scope. Work Setting: Location is flexible: NV5 Regional Offices or work from home considered Must be able to work 12 hours shifts and up to 21 consecutive days on a project. With a targeted hitch schedule of 16 days on and 12 days off.
