About The Position

This role offers an opportunity to join a fast-paced, innovative team at Amazon's Surface Transportation organization, which is expanding and introducing new capabilities to its Maintenance business for Middle Mile assets (tractors, trailers, box trucks, hostlers). The Senior Vendor Performance Manager will deliver world-class solutions in a highly collaborative, startup-like environment, requiring strong leadership skills and influence across Amazon teams. Responsibilities include defining the vision, roadmap, and driving program execution for the Maintenance business through deep supply chain understanding, customer requirements, negotiations with vendors and 3rd-party logistics providers, and internal alignment with Finance and Capital Planning stakeholders. The position involves daily interaction with senior Amazon leaders, converting their needs into efficient business models, and balancing strategic planning with execution. Up to 25% travel is required for this role.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
  • 4+ years of vendor management experience

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Responsibilities

  • Senior Vendor Performance Manager for vendor maintenance team, managing performance of vendors. (KPIs, SLA, etc.)
  • Work with external vendors and set expectations, raising the bar on operational performance. Vendor Management is about 50-60% of role.
  • Source, define, build and manage the Maintenance business.
  • Define a vision for how this program will work and cost.
  • Write whitepapers to gain initial buy-in and alignment as well as provide status updates as the project completes critical milestones and time intervals.
  • Identify key performance metrics and create a reporting suite that allows for program management when the program is fully scaled.
  • Define short-term, mid-term, and long-term timelines and project phases.
  • Lead supply chain risk mitigation activities and correct vendor performance issues.
  • Present supply chain strategies and program business reviews to Operations and Finance leaders.
  • Work with Operations, Engineering, and suppliers to minimize space required to hold sufficient inventory to keep the business running smoothly. This includes adjusting replenishment cadence, min/max holding levels, etc.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives to ensure the lowest possible total cost.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and create mechanisms to measure performance and streamline processes across all vendors.
