About The Position

Kidde Global Solutions has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly skilled Senior VAVE Mechanical Engineer to join our Commercial Fire Engineering Productivity team. This team works alongside other R&D centers to identify, validate and implement Material Productivity projects for all Commercial Fire business units. The candidate for this role will be responsible for building the project pipeline, executing selected projects, mentoring junior team members and supporting R&D teams with their productivity project efforts. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field
  • 10+ years’ experience in design for value and design for manufacturability engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to mentor and train junior engineers
  • Experience interfacing with manufacturing teams to support product Transfer of Work and Localization initiatives
  • Experience with both metal and plastic product design and tooling and manufacturing
  • Ability and willingness to travel overseas to support Productivity events and project implementation (including, but not limited to: China, Mexico, Poland, Netherlands, Spain and India)
  • Business Administration, Project Management and Quality related training
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and reliability engineering
  • Previous work in fire safety or other highly regulated industries
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrently running projects

Responsibilities

  • Drive value analysis and value engineering projects to optimize material cost while maintaining a focus on quality.
  • Work with cross functional teams to build the material productivity project pipeline.
  • Support the Operations teams with Transfer of Work and Localization projects – documentation, quality data validation, manufacturing requirement clarification.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers (no direct report responsibilities).
  • Update design drawings (2-D and 3-D CAD) to clarify Engineering design requirements.
  • Manage product configuration and design change documentation (ECN, Deviation).
  • Ensure product compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support product certification and listing efforts (UL/ULC, FM, EN54, CCCF, etc.)
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to optimize design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Support OEM product qualification and onboarding.
