About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Underwriting Team Leader in Alpharetta, GA for our property line of business. Your Team Allianz Commercial (AzC) specializes in corporate property insurance for the most complex and challenging risk exposures in more than 200 countries and territories. With a focus on larger international risk portfolios, we offer tailor-made 'All Risks' property damage and business interruption insurance through our global network. When it comes to underwriting insurance products for well-known famous sports venues, sports/entertainment facilities, major airlines, retail/wholesale companies, banks and manufacturers, we do it all! The Impact You Will Have Reporting to the Regional Property Leader - South Zone, you will handle a production underwriting territory while also managing a team of Property underwriters. You will be the technical referral point for underwriters, ensuring compliance with underwriting authority and pricing and rating guidelines. You will also develop and maintain strong relationships with producers and clients in partnership with Market Management.

Requirements

  • A minimum 10 years' proven track record in underwriting profitable Property business.
  • If you've underwritten property insurance products such as large commercial property risks, manufacturing, real estate, retail, public entity, and healthcare facilities, this job is for you!
  • Previous leadership experience, with the ability to advise, instruct, direct, coach and develop team members..
  • In depth understanding of property products, portfolio, regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscape.
  • Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at the peer group level and well established within local market.
  • Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to property.
  • Manage the underwriting books.
  • Analyze trends and scenario plans from which portfolio strategies can be developed and implemented.
  • Apply knowledge of how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs.
  • Ability to analyze highly complex data from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolves issues before they transpire.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data driven decision making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferably a bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets (local and/or regional), including negotiating price and terms and conditions with producers and proactively managing capacity.
  • Underwriting and evaluating Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios for property.
  • Ensuring you and your team underwrite within the property governance framework (e.g., Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, and Rules and Principles ).
  • Ensuring contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception, including utilization of global pricing tools and placing and binding of FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception.
  • Positively representing AzC externally to the market.
  • Proactively driving involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Allianz Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., risk managers).
  • Ensuring accurate policy documentation issued to producers (where AzC responsibility to do so) or producer has issued documentation (where producer responsibility).
  • Ensuring file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled.
  • Proactively supporting completion of policy administration and credit control processes.
  • Proactively supporting acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and producer negotiations where necessary) and liaising on Market Management initiatives.
  • Participate/contribute to key projects.
