About The Position

The Senior Underwriting Assistant for Workers' Compensation plays a crucial role in supporting the Large Accounts Team by performing diverse clerical duties that require a thorough understanding of underwriting procedures and policies. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of Workers' Compensation underwriting experience required.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with policy systems required.
  • Strong math and reading skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of underwriting tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new information quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data sets for potential errors or concerns prior to referral.
  • Track large account referrals for indications, formal quotes, and final transaction outcomes.
  • Create and bundle loss sensitive proposals for various programs.
  • Act as a resource for branch underwriting regarding policy construction and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to the sales process through preparation for new and renewal accounts.
  • Manage prospect and customer entries, policy issuance, endorsements, and correspondence.
  • Issue cancellation, rescission, and reinstatement notices daily.
  • Build and foster relationships to enhance underwriting products and customer service.
  • Assist underwriters in prioritizing accounts and file completion.
  • Engage in proactive communication with underwriters and agents.
  • Participate in agent or client visits as needed.
  • Perform renewal and/or small new business underwriting within defined parameters.
  • Identify and resolve complex problems independently, referring unusual issues to supervisors when necessary.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior support personnel.
  • Support new processes and improve departmental outcomes.
