About the position

The Senior Underwriting Assistant will be an integral member of the Property Individual Risk team by providing support within established performance standards and priorities. The Senior Underwriting Assistant is responsible for providing Underwriters with information necessary to make prudent underwriting decisions and to support the underwriting lifecycle from submission through issuance.

Responsibilities

  • High interaction and coordination with underwriting, as well as other functional areas such as, Accounting and Actuarial.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis on all incoming Property Facultative IR Direct and Broker submissions and perform account clearance based on underwriting information.
  • Responsible for indicating clearance hits to appropriate underwriters.
  • Cleanse, validate and prepare catastrophe model exposure data results.
  • Create Google maps for the specified key locations.
  • Formulate answers to questions, reviewing the risk file, and other documentation as needed; disseminate or explain information, take direction, and resolve catastrophe modeling results.
  • Familiarization and operation of the various facultative underwriting systems.
  • Manage the workflow of multiple tasks and maintain a detailed understanding of the status of various tasks.
  • Assist underwriters with the issuance of binders, certificates, and endorsements into the Destiny IR system.
  • Responsible for ensuring all documents are maintained in the electronic file and adhere to audit standards.
  • Review client company closing documents and/or policies and discuss changes with underwriters.
  • Act as a technical expert by providing training to less experienced Underwriting Assistants.
  • Assist managers and underwriters in the preparation and distribution of information for various reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring account receivables and assist accounting dept with reconciliation.
  • Participate in User Acceptance testing on system enhancements prior to deployment within the production environment.
  • Aid in special projects and assignments, as assigned.

Requirements

  • College Degree Preferred.
  • Some to moderate technical experience in an insurance/reinsurance company (Reinsurance preferred).
  • Good working knowledge of catastrophe modeling.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word). Some Power Point helpful.
  • Robust organization, prioritization, and time management skills, as well as outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
