About The Position

Nexus Specialty Inc., an Arrowhead Programs company, is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their growing team in Chicago, IL. This role will be key in working with the VP of Management Liability to expand a profitable book of wholesale-only, middle market Management Liability business across the US. The Senior Underwriter will actively participate in developing and implementing an underwriting strategy that identifies profitable market opportunities and cultivates key wholesale broker relationships.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of management liability underwriting experience.
Demonstrates significant contribution to underwriting profit.
Capable of making independent decisions in alignment with company policies and best practices.
Knowledge of the management liability external market.
Established network of wholesale broker relationships.
Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential broker opportunities.

Responsibilities

Underwrite a portfolio of primary and excess private company and non-profit management liability risks – with a focus on new business.
Adhere to company guidelines and underwriting authority, evaluate new business accounts to determine risk acceptability, contractual terms and pricing.
Partner with VP to review and manage overall book performance and production results.
Generate new business opportunities by leveraging wholesale broker contacts.
Manage wholesale broker relationships in assigned territory.
Represent Nexus at networking functions and other professional lines industry-related events.
Remain current on legal and regulatory changes and claim development in order to contribute to portfolio profitability.
