About The Position

We highly value the insight and expertise our agency partners bring to the table which helps us provide timely and predictable surety solutions Position involves both outside and inside business development and includes direct responsibility for agency development and management within a book of business. As a key player on our team, you will: Underwrite and manage a portfolio of performance and non-performance bonds with precision and insight. Drive growth by acquiring new business and retaining existing accounts—meeting and exceeding financial targets. Build strong relationships with agents, brokers, and clients through regular travel, strategic meetings, and trusted advisement. Evaluate risk by analyzing financial statements, bond forms, and contract documents. Collaborate with internal teams and contribute to the development of junior underwriters. Champion our brand by delivering exceptional service and representing our mission with professionalism and empathy.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree (Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred) or equivalent industry experience.
  • 4–7 years of surety underwriting or related experience (banking or credit analysis is a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial and legal documents.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • A self-starter mindset with a customer-first attitude and a knack for problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and underwriting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and underwrite new and renewal business from assigned agents/brokers in the primary line of business.
  • Consistently achieve budgeted financial results (premium volume, loss ratio, premium collections and expense management including commissions) through new business acquisition, retention of business, and effective price management as a result of executing personal and branch objectives.
  • Interact and collaborate with a team of Line of Business colleagues and other critical internal/external business associates.
