About The Position

This position is hybrid. We will consider candidates from the following locations: Alpharetta, Georgia; New York, New York; Jersey City, New Jersey; Boston, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; Scottsdale, Arizona; Dallas, Texas. AmTrust E&S Insurance Services, a member of the AmTrust group of companies, is searching for an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Underwriter to join the E&S Property team. The Senior Underwriter will have frequent interactions with wholesale brokers in providing coverage for new and renewal business based on customer's needs. The ideal candidate will work in a team environment, demonstrate a strong customer focus that will reinforce the departments appetite and strategy. This candidate will possess strong decision-making skills, be detailed oriented, able to build & sustain broker relationships, be results driven, and have a track record of working in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in the wholesale E&S underwriting space with established broker relationships.
  • Portfolio management mindset with focus on balance and diversification, while continually seeking to identify emerging trends and opportunities to help deliver long-term underwriting profit.
  • Strong knowledge of E&S property insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of insurance policies, regulations, and trends.
  • Builder and growth mindset.
  • Excellent presentation skills and accustomed to interacting both in-person or virtually with various external stakeholders and trading partners. Ability to influence and persuade through advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, review and negotiate policy terms and conditions that are in line with the departments underwriting guidelines.
  • Underwrite targeted new and renewal business by reviewing and analyzing insureds (or prospective insureds) loss history, exposures, and other pertinent information.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing plans, product analysis, services, geographic focus and broker intelligence.
  • Perform related duties as requested to include report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of the product line unit.
  • Seek out and develop new relationships with wholesale brokers.
