The Private Company team at Everest is excited to welcome a Senior Underwriter II to our Philadelphia office. In this role, you'll be a key player in evaluating and underwriting new and renewal business, all while building strong relationships with brokers and clients in the industry. You'll have the opportunity to apply your expertise to deliver customized insurance solutions that balance smart risk management with exceptional client service. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Financial Lines underwriting experience, demonstrating subject matter expertise and strong industry contacts.
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills along with the ability to underwrite financial stability.
  • Experience in underwriting systems and tools used to measure exposure, assist in the underwriting process and help calculate target pricing.
  • Knowledge of the insurance market and strong relationships in the broker community.
  • Strong negotiation, oral and written communication skills along with interpersonal skills to handle complex accounts, cross sell within the organization, and aggressively target potential new business accounts.
  • Ability to maintain excellent broker relationships and provide high quality service.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills to meet all service requirements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the growth of a profitable and diversified portfolio including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary and Crime lines of business.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of the company's underwriting authorities and guidelines.
  • Solicit and analyze new business targets to align with the group's underwriting guidelines while maintaining portfolio profitability.
  • Underwrite and execute renewals maintaining high quality service standards while being cost-effective.
  • Develop and maintain positive business relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Assist in the development of products and marketing materials.
  • Interact and coordinate activities with other departments (in particular, management, claims, actuary).
  • Contribute to the regular analysis and review of underwriting practices and procedures including financial and coverage analysis.
  • Provide assistance and support to other members of the underwriting team when necessary and seek mentorship from superiors to further develop in the role.
