About The Position

This position leads an assigned underwriting territory in Puerto Rico for the Environmental Liability (EIL) portfolio with an emphasis on underwriting traditional EIL products including site pollution, contractors’ pollution, storage tank liability, and transportation liability. Requirements

• Extensive and relevant knowledge of underwriting environmental liability.
• 3-5+ years in environmental and/or casualty lines underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of insurance principals and policy structure.
• Knowledge of macro environmental regulations (EPA, state, local laws).
• Knowledge of basic environmental science principles (contaminants, fate and transport, remediation, closure etc).
• Familiarity with environmental site assessments (Phase I, II, III).
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners.
• Bilingual fluency (Spanish/English).
• Analytical thinking.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
• Good organisational skills.
• Able to work independently.
• Able to manage conflicting priorities to achieve deadlines.
• Strong customer orientation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all facets of the in-force portfolio with respect to timely servicing, and adherence to department operational and underwriting guidelines.
• Contributes to, monitors and advises on the business plan requirements and developments in order to ensure success in delivering profitable results in line with plan.
• Underwrite new accounts in accordance with operational and underwriting guidelines.
• Meet stated financial objectives around growth and profitability for the EIL portfolio.
• Proactively engages and manages producer relationships to grow the portfolio and Aspen’s market presence for environmental liability.
• Assists in the preparation and implementation of regional business reporting plans to ensure these are in line with wider business strategy and reflect key priorities.
• As needed participate and lead local form filings and filing amendments.
