Defense Base Act (DBA) coverage is U.S. federal workers' compensation insurance for civilian employees injured or killed while working on U.S. government contracts outside the United States, including on military bases, public works projects, and national defense contracts. As the foreign extension to the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, the DBA provides medical benefits, disability compensation, and death benefits for compensable claims. Employers are required to secure DBA insurance, inform employees of their rights, and file injury reports with the Department of Labor's Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP). As a key member of the Defense Base Act team within the Chubb Multinational department, the Underwriter will contribute to the achievement of profitability and production results through the growth, development, and underwriting of DBA programs for U.S.-government-contracting companies and organizations. In addition, this position is responsible for establishing and cultivating business relationships with brokers, clients, and other relevant spheres of influence to assure the continued flow of new business opportunities while representing all Multinational segments and products.
