About The Position

The Senior Underwriter - Commercial Credit will be responsible for completing the financial analysis and related due diligence for extensions of inventory credit lines and other commercial loans (real estate, working capital, lines of credit) to current and prospective automotive dealership customers. The position requires the ability to perform in-depth analysis (including forecasting, cash flow and liquidity analysis, validation of financial records, credit investigations), use a proprietary risk modeling system, and make recommendations regarding the creditworthiness of the credit extension that mitigates risk and complies with corporate and regulatory policies and procedures. In addition, the Underwriter must provide a high level of customer service and will regularly communicate with key internal and dealership personnel.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent training.
  • Minimum four years of commercial credit underwriting or equivalent commercial lending experience preferred.
  • Understanding of dealership and wholesale administration a plus.
  • Strong financial analysis and analytic/problem solving skills required.
  • Proficient in intermediate MS applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts detailed financial analysis on automotive dealership financial statements and supporting documentation, including data obtained from both internal and external sources.
  • Prepares timely, formalized proposals summarizing the analysis, identifying any credit concerns and include recommendations for the credit extension.
  • Completes reviews of UCC filings, insurance, licensing and other related items to document company compliance and ensure that guidelines are met.
  • Interfaces and communicates with automotive dealership personnel and stakeholders to obtain all required information.
  • Updates company records, reports, and risk modeling systems with information gathered during the underwriting review process.
  • Executes other related responsibilities and projects as assigned.
  • Participates in and supports ongoing professional development and training initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and external regulations.
  • Provides training and mentorship to interns, new department hires and matrix partners.
  • Participates on special assignments to improve processes and enhance department training material.
