This position offers the ability to apply and expand your knowledge of underground transmission line engineering, including routing, duct bank configurations, manhole placement, and electrical principles. You will be responsible for designing underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500kV, conducting cost analyses, developing design criteria, addressing siting and routing challenges, and placing manholes. The role involves physical design, including duct bank layouts, development of trenchless designs, cable pulling calculations, and creating drawing packages. You will also be responsible for cable selection studies, determining bonding schemes, performing ampacity calculations, and developing riser structure configurations and structural loading. Key tasks include developing specifications for cable procurement, duct bank installation, trenchless installation, and general construction. You will work and coordinate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components and direct a small project team of other engineers, designers, and drafters. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days a week in the office and allowing two days of remote work. A generous relocation package is available, dependent upon your location. Furthermore, this role expects you to lead others in leveraging modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs, including directing process-improvement work and guiding the use of AI or agentic AI tools while ensuring results are checked.
