The Role: We are seeking a talented and experienced Transportation Resident Engineer to join our Construction Management Team in Santa Ana. In this role, you will work closely with the Owner's Project Manager to oversee construction operations, ensure quality and conformance with approved plans and specifications, monitor contractor performance and safety, manage project documentation, and facilitate cost and change management. You will also lead and mentor field staff and coordinate with designers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) / Civil Engineer in California
  • 10+ years of construction or project management experience, including administering Caltrans and local agency contracts
  • Ability to travel between project sites and office facilities
  • Ability to work on-site in a construction trailer or facility with exposure to heights, uneven surfaces, ladders, confined spaces, and other typical construction conditions

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-construction services including bid-ability and constructability reviews
  • Administer contracts, review contractor schedules, respond to claims, and document project progress
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and facilitate design change proposals
  • Monitor construction in accordance with approved plans, specifications, budget, and schedule
  • Supervise field construction management staff and sub-consultants, ensuring safety and quality compliance
  • Coordinate daily with clients, designers, owners, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies
  • Resolve project issues proactively to facilitate successful project delivery
