About The Position

AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic and highly motivated Senior Transportation Planner or Engineer in Denver, Colorado to help us grow our transportation planning expertise. Our team works on a diverse range of high-profile projects throughout Colorado and other states. In this role, you will help us deliver projects for local municipalities, state DOT’s, and federal clients at both a local and national level. The successful candidate will lead technical elements of transportation planning studies and provide expertise in transportation modeling for corridor and environmental studies in accordance with FHWA processes. Experience with traffic modeling software, such as Transmodeler, VISSIM, and/or Aimsun, along with knowledge of corridor and environmental study processes is required for this role. This individual must have the technical expertise to lead modeling components of corridor analyses, present results to clients and incorporate feedback, lead the production of technical reports, and coordinate with internal project teams and junior staff. The role may also involve a variety of other transportation planning studies, and may also include project management, proposal preparation, and business development activities.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, or related field.
  • Have a Professional Registration in your field of practice, e.g., P.E. or AICP, with a preferred certification of PTOE and/or RSP.
  • Display strong technical writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Be willing to mentor and guide junior staff.
  • Be dynamic and passionate about the transportation planning field.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in applying a range of relevant analytical techniques to meet varying client / project requirements on a diverse range of projects.
  • Have good organizational, communication, time, and budget management skills.
  • Manage and work on various projects of various sizes concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as technical lead on transportation planning projects directing junior staff.
  • Provides guidance and oversight to multi-disciplinary teams, including providing guidance on technical analysis, report documentation, alternatives analysis, and modeling efforts.
  • May manage transportation planning projects.
  • Assists with analysis and preparation of reports, such as feasibility and corridor studies, traffic impact analyses, multi-modal projects, and safety projects.
  • Is proficient at using modeling software such as TransModeler, Aimsun, and/or Vissim, as well as Synchro, HCS, SIDRA, and/or IHSDM to develop project solutions.
  • Provides quality control reviews for work performed by others.
  • Coordinates with clients and leads client meetings.
  • Writes project proposal components, develops scopes of work, and compiles fee estimates.
  • Supports business development efforts by meeting with current and potential clients.
