About The Position

Geotechnical Services is looking to hire a Senior Transportation Engineer Specialist (Sr TE Spec). Under the direction of the Chief, Office of Geotechnical Design - North, the Sr TE Spec. will plan, organize, and perform geotechnical studies for transportation projects in relation to geotechnical seismic hazards evaluation and mitigation. This will include developing site investigation plan, planning, organizing and performing field explorations such as drilling and sampling, testing and geophysical studies to obtain geotechnical information, preparing Advance Planning Studies, Foundation Reports and Geotechnical Design Reports containing seismic design recommendations, conducting PS&E review, and providing construction support.

Requirements

• Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans exam.
• For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
• Statement of qualifications (SOQ) required.
• Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
• If you are basing your eligibility on education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification.
• Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a transcript/degree U.S. equivalency report evaluation that indicates the number of units and degree to which the foreign coursework is equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and perform geotechnical studies for transportation projects in relation to geotechnical seismic hazards evaluation and mitigation.
