About The Position
The Senior Transmission Engineer will play a pivotal role in leading the design of complex transmission line projects. This position requires a high level of technical oversight and expertise, as the successful candidate will be responsible for guiding technical design staff and ensuring that all project needs and requirements are met. The Senior Transmission Engineer will be recognized as an industry leader in transmission line design, providing best practices and innovative solutions for related projects. Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to further develop a growing client portfolio for the Lexington office, enhancing the company's market presence and client relationships. In this role, the Senior Transmission Engineer will lead the transmission design of projects from the conceptual phase through to design completion. This includes addressing project requirements set forth by project managers, such as EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop design. The engineer will prepare specifications and data sheets for transmission equipment, manage Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and summarize technical bids to make informed purchase recommendations. Furthermore, the engineer will conduct economic conductor selection studies and perform lightning performance and grounding calculations. The Senior Transmission Engineer will also be responsible for leading calculations for required electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes, and will communicate the interpretation and application of necessary NERC, FERC, and regional requirements and standards. The role involves reviewing vendor drawings, interfacing with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines, and participating in the development of project schedules, scopes, budgets, and construction planning. Effective management of change orders and adherence to quality assurance and quality control processes are also critical responsibilities. The engineer will lead field inspections and measurements for both public and private clients, prepare and present technical reports, and build effective relationships with existing clients while developing new business opportunities. Participation in sales and marketing efforts, leading the development of cost proposals, and ensuring customer satisfaction are essential aspects of this position. The Senior Transmission Engineer will also provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with company and site safety policies, and performing other duties as assigned.
