About The Position

VHB is seeking a strong Senior Traffic Engineer with solid design experience to join our vibrant and growing transportation consulting practice in Connecticut. This is an exciting opportunity to develop, analyze and evaluate traffic improvements, while being involved in transportation planning, safety, and engineering solutions for multimodal transportation projects. There is an option for someone to work from another VHB office to support CT projects, if meeting all qualifications. Requirements

• 5-8 years of professional transportation/traffic design engineering experience required, depending on level of education
• Proficiency in Synchro required
• Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD required
• Vissim modeling capabilities a plus
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required
• Master's degree a plus (master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze and evaluate traffic improvements including traffic signals and roundabouts
• Develop traffic and transportation planning, safety, and engineering solutions for multimodal transportation projects
• Conduct safety engineering analysis, including design and operational focused analysis
• Design traffic control devices
• Design work zone traffic control
• Develop intersection design
• Use guidance within the MUTCD to prepare and oversee traffic signal warrant analyses
• Attend and lead meetings with transportation agencies and private developers
• Prepare and participate in presentations to the client team
• Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports
• Mentor junior team members
