About The Position

The Senior Trade Advisory Associate at Flexport plays a crucial role in navigating the complexities of global trade compliance and duty minimization strategies. This position involves working closely with a team of business consultants, lawyers, and licensed customs brokers to provide advanced customs and trade expertise to clients. The associate will support various trade advisory projects, ensuring compliance with regulations while identifying risks and cost-saving opportunities for clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Licensed Customs Broker required; J.D. or graduate degree highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of trade-related experience in-house, at customs brokerage, consulting, or law firm preferred.
  • Strong technical and business writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office suite and Google equivalents.
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Strong industry knowledge including classification, valuation, reconciliation, duty minimization and avoidance strategies, and government regulations.
  • A 'compliance first' attitude to maintain regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support trade advisory projects focusing on trade compliance and duty minimization strategies, including Classification, Country of Origin, FTA analysis, FSFE, Compliance assessment, and tariff engineering.
  • Perform, coordinate, and support Trade Advisory analytics and reporting from various sources.
  • Monitor deadlines and draft client deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Stay informed on the latest customs regulations, ruling issuances, and industry trends relevant to clients.
  • Manage project timelines, statuses, and invoices appropriately.
  • Coordinate software solutions, automate data analytics, and improve SOPs and ACE portal access.
  • Interface with CBP and clients, providing timely responses and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Maintain active communication with clients, customs, government authorities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support Trade Advisory infrastructure and administrative requirements.
