Your Role at Baxter This is where my hands make life-sustaining products As a Senior Tool Technician, you’ll support daily operations by designing, building, fixing, and improving tools and equipment used in production. This includes custom machines, weld tools, gauges, and fixtures. You’ll also troubleshoot problems and make repairs to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in machining, welding, or a related field is preferred
  • 5–8 years of experience as a Tool Technician or in a similar hands‑on role
  • Strong experience in machining, welding, and tool‑and‑die work
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and indicators
  • Strong mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Commitment to working safely and keeping an organized, clean work area
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mentoring or leading others is a plus
  • CNC programming experience (G‑code or conversational) is helpful
  • Welding experience, especially TIG and MIG, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and repair precision tools such as dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges
  • Use advanced machining methods to make sure all tools meet exact specifications
  • Operate and maintain machine tools like lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment
  • Perform complex machining work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Lead by example by mentoring and training junior technicians and apprentices
  • Share machining, welding, and tool‑building best practices to support continuous improvement
  • Troubleshoot tooling problems that affect production and respond quickly to keep operations moving
  • Work safely at all times and help promote a strong safety culture on the shop floor
  • Partner with engineers, designers, and production teams to improve tool designs and functionality
  • Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and related techniques to fabricate parts and assemblies
  • Review first‑article inspection results and make needed adjustments to tools and fixtures
  • Keep accurate records of tooling specs, maintenance, and project progress
  • Lead or participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects focused on quality, cost, delivery, and safety
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to keep tooling and equipment in top condition
