About The Position

The Materials and Process Engineering Department, which functions within Hardware Engineering, is looking for a temporary senior thin film engineer advisor to join our Advanced Materials Section in Andover, MA. A qualified candidate will have significant experience in thin film deposition and related processes. This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to establish a new processing system. This role will involve designing experiments to optimize processing. Tasks will require familiarity with similar systems. A candidate must be able to manage and coordinate a wide variety of simultaneous tasks within set schedule requirements. This candidate will become part of a multi-disciplined team.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with thin film deposition, substrate development, and related work.
  • Experience working with design and development (material selections), manufacturing, and/or suppliers in materials or mechanical engineering related projects.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, problem solving, and solutions to problems in an expeditious manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on programs, projects, or products associated with the Defense Industry.
  • Experience in technology transfer to manufacturing and process release concepts.
  • Experience working with engineering drawings, material safety data sheets, military specifications, and ASTM test methods.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or chemical analysis methods and characterization techniques.
  • Experience completing scientific based projects including failure analysis investigations and writing concise technical reports summarizing analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement process for substrate formation and thin film deposition.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for proposals related to thin films and other substrate and coating research and development.
  • Mentor earlier career employees.
  • Transfer knowledge to colleagues.
