About The Position

Arm technology is becoming the platform of choice for compute and AI. The Arm System Engineering team's mission is to architect, design, and develop server and rack-level infrastructure for at-scale datacenter deployments. The team capabilities span across system hardware, software, system interconnect, system management storage, data center infrastructure and performance engineering. The team responsibilities include customer engagements, technology selection, system design, network architecture, performance, and datacenter deployment & operations. The Arm System Engineering team is developing industry-leading technology to deliver innovative and high-performing solutions to power the data centers of the future. This is a Senior Technical Engineer role focused on Thermal Engineering within complex AI data center hardware projects! The primary responsibility is to ensure overall product functionality and compliance with all technical thermal specifications. The role encompasses ownership of the complete thermal solution, including specification development, design reviews, qualification, testing, and validation. Success in this position requires a deep understanding of thermal management principles, simulation techniques, and testing methodologies, as well as strong collaboration with multi-functional teams to deliver high-performance, reliable server cooling systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in server mechanical and thermal design, including shock/vibration, thermal management, liquid cooling, EMI, and acoustics.
  • Expertise in thermal fluid dynamics, heat transfer, microprocessor thermal profiles, system-level thermal design, and fan/heatsink control algorithms.
  • Lead the design, simulation (FloTHERM, ANSYS, COMSOL), validation, and optimization of liquid cooling solutions (heat sinks, cold plates, CDUs/CDMs).
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate and validate thermal solutions within server products, ensuring industry compliance and performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and evaluation of advanced liquid cooling solutions, with a primary focus on direct liquid cooling (DLC).
  • Define thermal specifications and manage development schedules in collaboration with select ODM vendors.
  • Provide technical direction to ODMs on thermal design, implementation, testing, cost analysis, and issue resolution to ensure performance, cost, and quality goals are met.
  • Work closely with third-party vendors and suppliers to ensure product features and thermal performance objectives are successfully achieved.
