About The Position

The Senior Test Technician role involves developing skills to conduct and assist Test Engineers with witness tests. Key responsibilities include performing functional testing of UPS modules to ensure conformance to specified requirements, which encompasses physical and functional inspection of electrical components, operating test bays and associated equipment, and troubleshooting/repairing faulty components. The technician must assess product evaluations against NEC and UL/CSA standards, review order write-ups, ensure product quality, and collaborate with other departments to maintain quality standards and verify units meet agency approvals. Additionally, the role requires working with Test and Manufacturing Engineers on test equipment development and coordinating modifications to test work instructions. The technician will also configure and connect system equipment, such as switchgear, SCCT cabinets, and power ties, and perform preliminary inspections and tests. Requirements

  • Must be or become Wiring Qualified and maintain the qualification as long as they are performing the duties in Power Testing
  • Possess safe work habits relative to high voltage equipment
  • Complete a thorough training program or demonstrate equivalent training/experience (for Associates in the Power Test area)
  • Exhibit skills and knowledge of the position through a written and hands-on demonstration during and following the completion of the training program
  • Minimum Associates in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered)
  • Successfully pass the minimum aptitude test for the Power Test area indicating the required mechanical aptitude, basic mathematical skills, locating information, observation and the ability to learn to read and understand SFA transmittals and drawings
  • Pass a basic AC/DC fundamentals test
  • Pass a Safety Inventory Test with minimum scores that will enable them to be accepted into the Test Tech training program
  • Ability to work with high voltage in the Power Test area
  • Knowledge of single and 3-phase electrical circuits (high power)
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuitry
  • Ability to use standard electrical instruments
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to learn to use Software as appropriate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Qualified and familiar with thorough operation and functionality of various 3-phase power products including UPS Single and Multi-modules
  • Possess the skill and ability to test, troubleshoot, and repair high power products including any of the following UPS products – Single Module Units or Multi Module Units
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (sponsorship will not be provided)
