DRS Naval Electronics is looking for a Senior Test Engineer (TE) onsite based in Largo, FL. The Sr. TE will be responsible for leading a group of engineers on a technical activity and completion of activity on time and budget. Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems. May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments.

  • Responsible for leading a group of engineers on a technical activity and completion of activity on time and budget
  • Design and develop test programs to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services
  • Write test procedures and protocol to assess product reliability and evaluate the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications
  • Debug test hardware and software
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop test programs to best support them, including cost and schedule as key variables
  • Assess and mitigate technical risks
  • Drive completion of engineering efforts within stated project scope
  • Participate in preparation of proposals
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Lead and direct the work of others as assigned
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience related to Test Engineering skillsets
  • Demonstrated success in similar technical environments
  • Self-starting, self-directed candidate with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of achieving project objectives and able to interface with various levels of internal team members, management, program sponsors, sub-contractors and customers
  • Ability to travel – Potential travel up to 10% for certain projects
  • Familiarity with defining and overseeing antenna pattern measurements by leveraging a working knowledge of common techniques such as near-field, compact range, and outdoor range testing
  • Demonstrate domain expertise in common antenna design and test principles
  • Practical application of common RF test equipment, such as Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Multimeters
  • Working knowledge of pulsed and CW RF systems, including common architectures and design principles
  • Ability to troubleshoot and plan approach to resolution of failures from environmental qualification and factory acceptance testing
  • Familiarity with automated test systems, data acquisition, instrument controls, real-time testing
  • Familiarity with automation testing environments (e.g. NI LabVIEW, NI Test stand, Agilent VEE)
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Dealing with ambiguity - adapting to uncertainty, making complex decisions, and remaining flexible and adaptable to change
  • Familiarity with DoD Environmental Military Standards and Specifications
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques or continuous improvement
