About The Position

Illuminate Technologies, LLC is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to provide support for local and fielded telecommunications systems. Responsibilities include site survey planning activities, developing and conducting core training on current telecommunications technologies, and maintaining/updating fielded systems. This position requires experience in working with telecommunications companies in the development and deployment of fielded systems, to include experience in administration and maintenance of fielded systems.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a medical clearance.
• Linux/Unix system experience.
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and solving problems in complex communications systems.
• Knowledge of current optical networks architecture, to include signal path and protocols used.
• Ability to identify and analyze functional and operational requirements to develop processes and solutions.
• Working knowledge of telecommunications architectures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field. College degree, in some cases, can be substituted by work experience.
• At least ten (10) years of relevant work experience in a Telecommunications Engineer role with four (4) years of relevant technical experience.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of mobile telecom network architectures and related hardware, software, protocols and understanding cell signaling.
• Knowledge of fiber optics: optical time domain reflectometer, mirroring, splitting and cutover of fiber links.
• Knowledge of principles of telecommunications design/architecture/implementation/configuration, understanding signals, read/breakout signals, and signal load.
• Experience with packet capture software and analyzing logs, stack traces, debug libraries, software/hardware.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, to include server components, software, and data storage devices.
• Supervise performance of systems and troubleshoot hardware/software issues, run diagnostics, document problems, prioritize resolutions, and assess associated risks.
• Provide local/remote support, troubleshooting and system administration support for field deployed systems and CONUS lab facilities.
• Build upon installation guides and as-built documentation, update SOP’s.
• Experience working directly with development teams in resolving software and hardware issues, manage software/hardware patches.
