GiveWell is a research organization that identifies and funds cost-effective giving opportunities, focusing on global health and well-being. Our work is funded by tens of thousands of donors who rely on our research to inform their giving. We’ve grown from directing $1.5 million in 2010 to directing ~$400 million in 2024. We're looking for a Senior Technology Specialist to make sure our team at GiveWell has the best possible experience with our tech tools. You'll help ensure our internal systems boost productivity while staying secure and running smoothly. You'll join our Technology team, report to our Head of Technology, and play a key role in building up our tech support. This role is essential to maintaining the productivity of our growing organization as we continue to scale our life-saving work.

  • Own our core productivity systems, serving as the primary administrator for Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, and other critical tools.
  • Manage technology deployments and hardware lifecycle, overseeing deployment of new hire and replacement laptops.
  • Lead technology projects that improve organizational effectiveness, scoping, planning, and executing projects like tool rollouts and workflow optimizations.
  • Manage our technology support ecosystem, supervising managed service provider relationships and serving as the escalation point for urgent issues.
  • Drive user experience and training initiatives, designing and delivering training programs to help team members maximize productivity.
  • Model cybersecurity and compliance best practices, implementing security measures and monitoring for threats.
  • Support strategic technology planning, contributing to technology roadmap planning and evaluating new tools.
  • 5+ years of experience in technology support, systems administration, or IT operations.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities.
  • Strong cultural competence and end-user empathy.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive and service-oriented approach to technology support.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
