About The Position

This role involves performing minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers, conducting regular preventative maintenance on service trucks (including inspection, tire rotation, and oil changes), and collaborating with the repair team to diagnose problems and plan repairs. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all repairs, modifying and performing preventative maintenance on applicable fleet vehicles, and ensuring all maintenance requirements for equipment operation are met. The role also includes troubleshooting and repairing mechanical malfunctions, inspecting fleet vehicles for DOT compliance (including brake maintenance), completing daily reporting, managing equipment, parts, and supplies inventories, and preparing mechanical maintenance reports. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience as a diesel technician or similar role
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
  • Proficient with hand tools and power tools
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • technical school or diesel mechanic certification preferred
  • CDL may be required or preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers.
  • Conducts regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation, and oil changes.
  • Collaborates with the repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
  • Maintains accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles.
  • Responsible for repairing, modifying, and performing preventative maintenance on applicable fleet vehicles.
  • Responsible for all maintenance to the operation of equipment by completing all required preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical malfunctions.
  • Inspects fleet vehicles to ensure that all vehicles are DOT compliant including brake maintenance.
  • Completes all required daily reporting as required.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Adheres to strict safe work practices to comply with all Company, DOT and OSHA regulations.
