About The Position

The Senior Technician - xEV Powertrain will be responsible for completing routine maintenance of electric vehicles (EV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). The role involves working closely with engineers to replace and update prototype vehicle parts, operating and maintaining a medium-duty Class 6 diesel support truck occasionally, and reporting repair status and project progress on a weekly basis. The technician will also be involved in prototype EV/FCEV vehicle instrumentation, including high voltage probes, current sensors, thermocouples, and data acquisition setup and installation. Additionally, the role includes conducting basic performance testing, measurement, and analysis of prototype vehicles under various conditions, including on-road and proving grounds testing, as well as extreme hot and cold conditions and towing.

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of automotive technician experience
  • Experience with working on electrified vehicles (EV, HEV, PHEV & FCEV)
  • Experience in diagnosing vehicle-related problems with service tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools
  • Proficient in creating documents, emails, and reports in Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory Driving Record
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an R&D lab environment
  • Excellent computer skills and experience in data acquisition systems / instrumenting for measuring vehicle performance
  • Background in prototype vehicle on-road testing and performance measurement
  • Experience in leading and managing other technicians' tasks and training
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete routine maintenance of EV, HEV, PHEV & FCEV vehicles
  • Work with engineers to replace and update prototype vehicle parts
  • Operate and maintain MD Class 6 diesel support truck occasionally
  • Report repair status and project progress weekly
  • Maintain records of equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Organize, purchase, update shop tools, consumables and parts as needed
  • Conduct basic performance testing, measurement and analysis of prototype vehicles
