Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Associates Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Science, or a related field) is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years previous lab experience; clinical research laboratory, or a similar scientific environment is preferred.
  • Basic or limited knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and other relevant regulations and guidelines such as IATA and OSHA universal precautions.
  • Phlebotomy certification required; ASCP or AMT certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform laboratory tests and procedures following established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee, process and prepare biological samples (blood, tissue, urine, etc.) for analysis, storage or shipping ensuring accurate identification, labeling, and storage.
  • Ensure completion of sample and retention inventory logs in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, spectrophotometers, microscopes, and other relevant instruments per SOPs and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Responsible for compliance with temperature monitoring of lab specimens and escalate any excursions to Site director.
  • Oversee quality control checks and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with research team members to assist in the collection and processing of biological samples in compliance with clinical research protocols.
  • Assist in the training and oversight of lab team staff and ensure work complies with established procedures.
  • Ensure clear documentation is kept in an organized manner.
  • Oversee strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
  • Responsible for the inventory management of laboratory supplies ensuring an adequate stock is maintained.
  • Stay updated with the latest scientific advancements and technologies relevant to the field of clinical research.
  • Other duties as assigned.
