We are looking for a Senior Technical Sound Designer to help craft a new, unannounced game for Blizzard. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work from home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Requirements

  • 5+ years combined experience in the game industry as a sound designer/technical sound designer.
  • Expertise in AAA game engines with a solid understanding of audio implementation and integration workflows.
  • Deep understanding of Wwise.
  • Fluent with scripting and level design tools, and a strong understanding of the workflows and pipelines used across the entire game team.
  • Experience developing custom audio workflow improvements.
  • Showcases a team-oriented approach to all work, understanding the importance of collaboration and partnering with all departments.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, solves problems proactively, and quickly adapts to feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working through early development and R&D phases of a project.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine, blueprints, and Wwise integration into Unreal.
  • A passion for video games and a deep understanding of game audio.
  • Scripting skills in Python, MEL, or similar languages.

Responsibilities

  • Create audio assets as directed, leveraging expertise in sound design and using commercial and proprietary software and tools.
  • Design features, tools, or workflows that support the game's vision and improve efficiency with direction from audio director and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with other game team tech experts to optimize workflows and improve product quality.
  • Work closely with audio programmer to realize pipelines at scale.
  • Optimize audio assets and workflows to the needs of the project.
  • Documentation of workflows and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot problems across disciplines.
  • Maintain strong relationship with QA, escalate issues, assist with bug testing, and track critical fixes to resolution.
  • Anticipate and solve performance and memory issues without affecting quality or player experience.
