Technology & Systems Department The Technology & Systems department drives technological innovation for the company and advances the technology strategy to support global growth. This includes IT, Software Development, OT / Building Automation Systems, and business process improvement. At Vantage, we are very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so we can make informed purchase decisions. We rely on extreme collaboration with Sales, Construction, Operations and Corporate Functions to drive simplification, establish global standards with continuous improvement and speed to value. Our focus is on speed to value with financial and execution discipline. We strive to double the good, halve the bad, in half the time. Position Overview This role is based remotely in the US. Vantage is looking for an experienced and detailed orientated Technical Project Manager to support and facilitate the successful completion of projects for the Automation Systems group. The Automation Systems department is responsible for designing, building, maintaining all aspects of the SCADA Building Management Systems at all of our data centers. This role functions as a senior individual contributor within Automation Systems, responsible for managing complex BMS/SCADA retrofit projects and upgrades, with expectations for technical ownership, architectural decision-making, and cross-team influence. You will review mechanical and electrical drawings, sequences of operation, and instrumentation diagrams to develop and maintain scalable, reusable automation logic and graphical visualization applications. The ability to influence and develop consensus across teams at a regional level is critical to be successful in this role. A high-level understanding of system integration, project management, commissioning, and process execution is required to provide informative project issue mitigation when challenges arise.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in Building Management System (BMS) and SCADA design, integration, commissioning, or technical leadership.
  • Strong working knowledge of Inductive Automation SCADA software (Ignition).
  • Strong working knowledge of Rockwell Automation.
  • BS in related Engineering or Construction Management fields preferred, but not required based upon experience level.
  • PLC / SCADA Application Engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley products preferred.
  • Data Center or Mission Critical project experience preferred but not required.
  • Shown success in project management with PMP certification preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in instrumentation and controls (I&C) preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint
  • Travel required is expected to be 25% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Handle automation design, engineering, and programming/software deliverables (Specifications, IFC’s, SOO’s, PLC, SCADA, etc..), ensuring critical delivery milestones are maintained and in alignment with the master construction schedule.
  • Definition of automation project scope and objectives, involving all relevant partners and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Support pre-bid planning, coordination, and execution strategies to ensure quality design and engineering deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership regarding automation issue mitigation to support delivery and commissioning schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Leads automation design and engineering projects that align with business vision, strategy, and deployment within the company.
  • Balance multiple automation technical project scopes, schedules, and stakeholder relations across the regions.
  • Drive all aspects of automation activities related to new and existing project development through each of the design and engineering phases, while supporting the construction interfacing team.
  • Provide automation system technical guidance and issue mitigation throughout design, engineering, and commissioning activities.
  • Provide remote or onsite project and vendor support ensuring a successful design and engineering delivery.
  • Lead regional Automation project design, engineering, and programming/software delivery.
  • Develop and manage complex building management system (BMS) and SCADA system retrofits and upgrades all while maintaining 100% uptime of critical equipment
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Construction, Reliability Engineering, Site Operations, and Automation Engineering peers to deliver and sustain reliable automation solutions
  • Evaluates progress on project(s) and supervises changes to schedule.
  • Develop automation logic and visualization applications based on project documentation including drawings, sequences of operation, bills of material, and instrumentation diagrams
  • Develops and maintains standard communication and user documentation for Automation aspects of project implementation (RFIs, Transmittals, Submittals, Change Requests, Project Plans, Status Updates, etc.)
