Instacart is hiring a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead and scale the systems that power modern performance marketing — spanning campaign feeds, signal infrastructure, audience targeting, and QA workflows. This role sits within the Marketing Enablement & Technology organization, a centralized function that partners with Engineering, Product, and Marketing to deliver the infrastructure required for scalable and measurable growth. As a Senior TPM, you will define and drive company-wide programs with high visibility and complexity, balancing business strategy with technical architecture to ensure long-term scalability. You will work directly with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, and Marketing to set direction, shape multi-year roadmaps, and ensure alignment with company-wide technical standards. You will manage complex multi-org programs end-to-end, from definition to launch, throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Lead company-critical, multi-phase programs across campaign feeds, audience platforms, event tagging, and signal QA with high levels of ambiguity and dependencies.
  • Drive multi-year technical and business roadmaps, aligning MET with broader company strategy and ensuring program architecture supports long-term scalability.
  • Define frameworks for roadmap intake, prioritization, and stakeholder alignment that can be adopted across teams and functions.
  • Partner with senior engineering and product leadership to influence system architecture and technical standards, bringing deep technical domain knowledge to programs and adding significant value to architecting solutions and driving strategic decisions.
  • Serve as the execution and alignment lead at the VP and executive level, ensuring visibility, clear decision-making, and delivery against company goals.
  • Anticipate risks, dependencies, and resourcing needs at the company scale — and design flexible, resilient program structures to address them.
  • Mentor and coach cross-functional POCs, raising the bar for program execution and leadership across MET.
  • Contribute broadly to Instacart’s success by suggesting and driving organization-wide initiatives beyond your immediate program scope.
  • Create durable systems for visibility, documentation, and cross-org collaboration — ensuring that MET’s programs are transparent, repeatable, and scalable.
  • 7+ years of work experience post-graduation in a technology field, preferably as a technical program or project manager, product manager, software engineer (technical domain), or related technical discipline.
  • Experience partnering with Director+ stakeholders to set direction, influence technical architecture, and drive alignment across divergent teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability, shaping programs that support both immediate growth and enduring flexibility.
  • Strong instincts for structuring ambiguous, high-risk problem spaces into clear program frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to tailor messaging for executives, engineers, and marketing leaders alike.
  • Growth mindset — seeks and is receptive to actionable feedback and growth opportunities; adaptable in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Proficiency with execution tools (Jira, Asana, Monday.com) and visualization/analytics tools (Looker, Tableau).
  • Track record of shaping org-level technical strategy in partnership with Engineering & Product leadership.
  • Master’s degree in a technology/engineering discipline.
  • Marketing domain expertise, with experience supporting performance marketing, campaign automation, or measurement systems.
  • Familiarity with major ad networks (ie, Meta, Google, TikTok) and martech platforms (ie, CRM, CDPs, campaign managers).
  • Experience across both large, matrixed organizations and smaller, fast-paced companies, with the ability to adapt frameworks to different operating models.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and shaping new systems or teams from the ground up, while ensuring long-term scalability and structure.
  • Preference for candidates located in San Francisco or Toronto.
  • Highly market-competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Remote work flexibility.
  • New hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
