About The Position

Vanguard is seeking a Product Manager to take full ownership of the product lifecycle for our data platforms. This role involves defining the product vision and strategy in alignment with Vanguard's enterprise data strategy and target state architecture. The successful candidate will engage in customer-centric product ideation, monitor market trends, and conduct user research to identify opportunities for product development. Collaboration across divisions with users such as data engineers, architects, analysts, and data scientists is essential to define data products that meet critical business needs. The role also emphasizes fostering a culture of experimentation through MVPs, rapid prototyping, and iterative development, while translating insights into actionable product features. The Product Manager will be responsible for product delivery through innovation, continuous improvement, and maintaining a transparent, outcomes-based roadmap. This includes managing product launches, defining key product metrics, and analyzing product performance to drive value and inform investment decisions. Additionally, the role involves partnering with finance and engineering leadership to manage budgets and P&L, developing go-to-market strategies, and mentoring junior product managers to build a high-performing product culture within the organization.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, information systems, business analytics, or equivalent experience.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of total technology experience, with 3-5 years in IT Product Management.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end product ownership across the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead strategic discussions on data architecture and engineering.
  • Cross-functional influence and leadership across multiple teams and levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record in using market research and financial analytics to drive innovation.
  • Proven record in implementing product management frameworks with successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision and strategy of Vanguard’s data platforms from incubation to sunset.
  • Monitor market trends and conduct user research to identify opportunities for data platform products.
  • Collaborate with users to define data products that meet their critical data and business needs.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation through MVPs, rapid prototyping, and iterative development.
  • Translate insights into actionable and prioritized product features.
  • Develop and maintain a transparent, outcomes-based roadmap and backlog.
  • Collaborate with data architecture and engineering teams to co-create the right features.
  • Conduct usability testing and experimentation to ensure platform features meet user needs.
  • Manage product launches, coordinating with project managers for on-time and on-budget releases.
  • Define and monitor key product metrics and analyze product performance.
  • Partner with finance and engineering leadership to allocate budgets across the product portfolio.
  • Use data-driven frameworks to define and manage the OKRs, P&L, and value realization of core platform capabilities.
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies in partnership with enablement and communications teams.
  • Create onboarding and training materials to ensure product adoption.
  • Shape a high-performing product culture within the data platform organization.
  • Mentor junior PMs and contribute to the growth of the product management capability.
