WSP is currently initiating a search for a Distribution Grid Modernization Engineer for our Denver, CO office. You will be involved in projects with our SCADA and Analytical Services Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. This Opportunity Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks include the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. Provides leadership with ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Your Impact The qualified candidate will be responsible for the modernization of the utility distribution systems, this includes planning, justification, and on-going support of the following Distribution Grid Modernization Programs: FLISR (Fault, Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration) Volt-Var Optimization or other similar programs (IVVC, CVR) Distribution Resiliency ADMS (Advance Distribution Management Systems) Electrification of Transportation DER Solutions (DERMS, NWA/NWS, Dynamic Response, Hosting Capacity) Advance Planning Techniques (8760, Quasi Static Time Series Analysis) The ability to interact with a wide variety of people to obtain the required information needed for performance of electrical distribution system studies Leads and performs engineering tasks associated with a critical or analytical engineering project or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas. Exercises authority and technical leadership on assignments that are often self-initiated and self-directed. Assignments are strategic and have significant long-term implications to achievement of overall business objectives. Track project schedules and budgets. Participation in industry working groups or standards (IEEE, CIGRE, IEC, ANSI) Participation as a presenter in industry conferences Some travel should be expected Ability to supports other distribution disciplines such as Protection and Planning Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
