About The Position

Seeking an experienced Senior Technical Editor to write, edit, design, and publish high-visibility communications supporting site activities. This role supports publishing operations, provides editorial guidance, and ensures all documentation aligns with established quality standards. The position also includes significant involvement with nuclear material accounting software (LANMAS), including requirements development, acceptance testing, and user support.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Technical Communications, English, Business, or related field and 5-7 years related experience OR AS degree and 8-10 years related experience OR 10+ years directly related experience
  • Ability to research, analyze, and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with LANMAS (Local Area Nuclear Material Accounting Software).
  • Understanding of publications processes and electronic publishing.
  • Experience using markup techniques, layout design, templates, and desktop publishing tools.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple publishing efforts.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior DOE L or Q clearance held within the past two years.
  • Experience developing software requirements.
  • Experience with Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) at DOE/NNSA sites.
  • Nuclear material accounting experience at DOE/NNSA sites.
  • Knowledge of SRS processes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, design, and publish technical materials in alignment with SRS standards.
  • Analyze and evaluate technical information to determine appropriate style, format, and communication approach.
  • Manage task teams involved in document publishing.
  • Compile, consolidate, research, and refine materials submitted for publication.
  • Develop and uphold sitewide editorial and publishing standards.
  • Provide education, consultation, and training on editorial standards to peers and customers.
  • Market Publication Services to internal customers and support user engagement.
  • Analyze organizational direction and technology trends to improve publishing processes.
  • Establish new document development and processing methods as needed.
  • Support classified materials workflows in coordination with responsible organizations.
  • Lead development and communication of functional requirements for nuclear material accounting software.
  • Organize, lead, and communicate acceptance testing for nuclear material accounting software.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on nuclear material accounting software (LANMAS).
  • Support DOE/NNSA sites in LANMAS implementation.
  • Provide helpdesk support for LANMAS users.
