Provide regional and/or multi-sector leadership to ensure data science subject matter, technical deliverables, projects and programs are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Responsible for SME innovation and administration, ensuring corporate compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations, and providing strategic and consistent direction to address current and future challenges in a large-scale and multi-faceted business organization. Database management /Database operations (SQL + NoSQL), software developer with geoanalytics, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and GIS skills. Background in transportation planning, multimodal transportation planning. Experience in data analysis, applying databases, programming knowledge to efficiently process massive datasets. Deep experience with 'big data', including managing data reporting for over 200 million toll trips for transportation, roadway, tollway, IoT, V2X, floating car and cell phone Mobile Location Based datasets, Ability to applying and analyze a 23 million + record datasets of electronic transit fare card transactions to develop an origin-destination matrices for transit/transportation models, through using multiple database management (PostgreSQL, SQL, Hadoop, MySQL, and Elasticsearch) platforms. Must be fluent in Python, SQL, HTML5/CSS, R-Shiny, Leaflet, ArcGIS, JavaScript, Java EE, .net, Ruby on Rails, with hands on experience in Unix/Linux system administration and operating in High-Availability and Compute Cluster environments.

  • Provide proactive and strategic process and people leadership for the design, implementation, and administration of the data science discipline's project and program involvement within the organization.
  • Lead the most complex and largest scale data science projects within the organization, ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring internal and external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance and profitability, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
  • Provide expert technical assistance on various environmental, advisory, building, transportation, infrastructure, and construction issues relating to data science, research, and logistics.
  • Responsible for the pursuit and development of business and the successful execution of data science work for current and potential building, infrastructure, and other market sector work within a geography specifically for the large projects within the area.
  • Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
  • Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Data Science work for WSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus on opportunities in all disciplines (planning, design, strategic consulting, advisory services, and program/construction management).
  • Accountable for the profitable performance of the individual projects and the successful completion of the projects within the specified area.
  • Oversee internal vision and mission for the data science discipline, ensuring alignment with business operations strategy, and maintaining that certifications, accreditations, and client value ratings are continuously improved.
  • Lead data science discipline meetings and continuing educational opportunities for area of responsibility, providing updates and recommendations to staff that ensure all appropriate measures are taken to foster innovation, development, and quality project delivery within the discipline.
  • Serve as the data science discipline's representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community stakeholders.
  • Provide senior leadership for proposals and project work scopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics for the data science discipline.
  • Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documents for complex projects and initiatives that result in sound conclusions.
  • Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.
  • Provides performance guidance and proactive leadership to assigned managers and staff.
  • Develop high-level business contacts and a client base for providing high level data science services including identifying additional business development opportunities, and cross-selling of other WSP capabilities.
  • Remain current in latest data science techniques and practices.
  • Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Data Analysis, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in data science/analysis.
  • Professional Certifications such as CCA, MCSE, Certified Analytics Professional.
