About The Position

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. In this role, you will be at the forefront of navigating accounting guidance for arrangements. You will partner and collaborate to understand go-to-market offerings and agreement constructs. You will provide a point-of-view on technical accounting issues and drive impact by thinking on your feet and proposing alternative structures. You will know your way around the codification and other accounting literature. You will have technical accounting and problem-skills. You will be solving accounting problems and embark on each day with an eye toward overcoming issues. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
10 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 8 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a technical accounting or similar role at the Social and Economic Committee (SEC) or Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).

Responsibilities

Perform technical research on complex accounting issues (with heavy emphasis on business arrangements, contingent considerations, etc.) and provide accounting consultation advice to business partners under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Work with various cross-functional stakeholders on complex accounting issues.
Draft and maintain global accounting policies and memos.
Keep business partners abreast of developments in accounting and financial reporting and related firm policies and positions through issuance of various publications, training sessions and other meeting forums; draft comment letters to standard setters.
