About The Position

Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Team Leader to play a key role on our team in East Greenwich, RI, office. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural inspections and technical management who can bring creative problem-solving skills balanced with a strong background in the field. This position requires the ability to manage inspection tasks, liaise with clients and government agencies, and direct teams. The Senior Team Leader is responsible for leadership and development of inspection teams and assisting in the growth of the local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • A minimum of 12 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
  • Must have passed the NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course #130055 or #130056.
  • Proficiency with RIDOT Bridge Management Software (AASHTOWare BrM), RIDOT Bridge Inspection Manual (2016), and RIDOT Bridge Engineering Policy Memos.
  • Proficiency with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises above water and underwater bridge and ancillary inspection and evaluations.
  • Reviews, analyzes and resolves field issues.
  • Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Performs complex difficult inspection, access, coordination, and estimates in inspection projects.
  • Produce and review detailed inspection reports, ensuring timely submission for FHWA compliance.
  • Manages and provides leadership on inspection projects, including proposal preparation, project budgets, project schedules and timely completion, project quality, and project profitability.
  • Mentors field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
  • Make independent decisions within a general framework.
  • Is active in technical societies.
  • Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
  • Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receive such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.

  • Base salary estimated between $125,000-$155,000 plus bonuses and benefits.
