About The Position

Provide strategic oversight and leadership for all U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance and accounting activities for the Kubota North America group, encompassing nine legal entities with operations across all 50 states. This role manages the end‑to‑end tax lifecycle through effective direction of external tax service providers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance while serving as a key advisor to senior management on tax matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Must have CPA license.
  • Must have at least 10 years in tax related positions, both provision and compliance experience required.
  • Must have at least 5 years of management experience.
  • Extensive experience in tax compliance and accounting, including federal, state, and local income tax, tax planning, tax analysis, and tax research
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage external tax service providers, ensuring high‑quality deliverables, strong communication, and effective coordination across multiple entities.
  • Proactive, self‑directed leader with strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, capable of influencing cross‑functional teams and driving continuous improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with experience using SAP (preferred) or other large ERP systems to manage complex data and reporting requirements.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual tax compliance cycle by developing and maintaining a comprehensive return calendar, ensuring timely coordination of data, deliverables, and reviews with external tax service providers.
  • Direct and oversee external tax partners in the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns, quarterly and annual tax provisions, property tax filings, and all related compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Supervise the preparation and filing of monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to filing deadlines.
  • Monitor federal and state legislative and regulatory developments, assess potential impacts to the Kubota North America group, and communicate implications and recommended strategies to senior leadership.
  • Manage federal and state income tax audits, including information requests, responses, proposed adjustments, negotiations, and resolution of issues.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to leadership and cross‑functional teams by providing guidance on tax implications of business decisions, transactions, and operational initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to internal tax resources and cross‑functional contributors, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.
