About The Position

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Senior Tax Counsel / Tax Counsel through October 1st, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. (CST). The person serving in the Tax Counsel / Senior Tax Counsel position will provide tax planning advice and support on a wide variety of income and other tax matters affecting Chevron’s businesses and will report to a Houston-based General Manager in Chevron’s Corporate Tax group.

Requirements

  • Juris doctorate
  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. federal income tax planning experience
  • Bar admission

Nice To Haves

  • LL.M. or CPA
  • Knowledge and experience with tax and commercial aspects of international and domestic oil and gas operations, marketing and trading activities, 'new' energies, partnerships and joint ventures, and acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Knowledge and experience with tax accounting, transfer pricing, and Pillar Two.

Responsibilities

  • Providing tax planning advice and support for various of Chevron’s domestic and international upstream, downstream and midstream businesses, with a primary focus on U.S. federal income taxation.
  • Conduct in-depth tax research and analysis, and derive conclusions in support of the company´s tax positions.
  • Interfacing with other functional groups within Corporate Tax (e.g., compliance, audit support, and indirect tax), as well as the broader Finance, Treasury and Legal functions.
  • Advising management and relevant stakeholders of the tax implications of proposed business transactions and activities.
  • Taking ownership of, and accountability for, all tax matters impacting each of Chevron’s businesses supported by the person fulfilling the position.
