The Senior Tax Associate will be a contributing member of a tax department that is organized to provide research, expertise, recommendations, and resolutions in complex areas such as compliance, consulting, and planning. The position will report directly to a Tax Senior Manager and have an opportunity to engage in a growing, collaborative, and encouraging work environment; as well as demonstrate personal strengths as a tax professional.

  • Prepare tax incentive compliance reports.
  • Track key metrics for tax incentive compliance, including correspondence with tax authorities and QTS customers, as needed.
  • Coordinate with QTS government relations and tenants to support tenant enrollment in incentive programs.
  • Prepare and review, as needed, federal, international, state and local income tax filings; quarterly estimates; and extensions.
  • Preparation and review, as needed, of personal property tax reporting and real estate tax analysis.
  • Assist with sales tax compliance and audits.
  • Conduct tax research, assess regulatory compliance, and manage projects as they are assigned.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor tax associate(s) on assigned projects.
  • Ability to meet monthly, quarterly and annual goals, targets, and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a capacity to manage shifting priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize and oversee multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deliver effective communication with third parties on the Company’s behalf; and manage audit and discovery processes with tax authorities.
  • Assist with general administrative functions of the Tax Department.
  • Assist with Corporate accounting projects as needed.
  • Special projects, as necessary.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent/relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in and/or working knowledge of Excel and tax research platforms (or other similar tax solutions).
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, audit principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of state and local reporting requirements.
  • CPA.
  • Three or more years public accounting experience with Big 4 or large regional accounting firm.
  • Proficient in and/or working knowledge of Thomson Reuters income tax and Sage FAS
