JOB SUMMARY The Sr. Tax Accountant prepares, coordinates and documents financial tax provisions and consolidated tax returns for Arch MI federal, state and international obligations in accordance with the respective laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures. The incumbent operates under broad practices and procedures governed by corporate policy and tax regulations with latitude to determine methods and techniques to accomplish results. They may perform job duties in more than one specialty providing mentoring or daily direction to less experienced staff. This role will sit in the Greensboro, NC office on a hybrid schedule of two days in the office and three days remote.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state corporate tax law, accounting systems, principles, methods and practices with advanced knowledge in areas of specialty.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills to effectively deal with multiple contacts both internal and external.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong results orientation and team collaboration ability.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related business field with five plus years job-related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of Workday Financial accounting application and Longview Tax Solutions is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares federal, premium and state income tax returns, extensions, estimates and other miscellaneous forms.
  • Assists with the monthly quarterly and annual federal tax provision for both GAAP and STAT.
  • Prepares or reviews quarterly and annual account reconciliations.
  • Prepares quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments, purchase of Tax & Loss bonds and annual extension request.
  • Performs tax research and assists with special tax projects as needed.
  • Responds to tax questions from other departments.
  • Prepares foreign tax provisions and projections for the GAAP financials as directed.
  • Prepares estimates of foreign taxable income used for forecasting by senior management along with quarterly reconciliations of actuals to projections as directed.
  • Assists with transfer pricing documentation.
  • Interfaces with other departments to obtain and compile information for review by outside auditors and provides supporting documents for internal and external auditors as well, including the IRS and state personnel.
  • Coordinates the research and review of federal, state and foreign tax law changes.
  • Makes recommendations concerning the implementation of policies necessary for compliance and tax planning.
  • Prepares premium tax estimates for monthly and quarterly tax prepayments and prepares and/or reviews state and federal income tax returns for all companies.
  • Prepares journal entries and reconciles tax accounts quarterly and annually.
  • Assists with state income and premium tax audits.
  • Coordinates with systems groups regarding changes in reporting requirements.
  • Provides relevant cross training to other staff members.
