About The Position

A Senior Tax Accountant is an essential member of a firm's tax team, bridging the gap between entry-level accountants and firm leadership. They are responsible for preparing and reviewing complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts. They also review the work of staff-level accountants to ensure accuracy and compliance. Senior Tax Accountants stay up-to-date on changes in tax law and regulations, conducting research to provide strategic tax planning advice for clients. They analyze complex financial data to identify potential tax savings and risks. A key responsibility is to represent clients during federal and state tax audits, preparing all necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities. They act as a primary point of contact for clients, managing their accounts and building strong relationships. Additionally, they often mentor and train junior staff, delegating tasks and providing guidance to help them grow professionally. They may also be involved in assisting with financial reporting and other accounting tasks, ensuring that all records are in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA license is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and a team player.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and stay organized with a keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to adapt to specialized tax and accounting software.
