This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at Blue Origin. This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. Leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin’s continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering . Position Specific Details: Shift: A | Mon-Fri (6am-2:30pm) Location: Space Coast, FL Relocation: Available Potential travel up to 10% of the time for training and other support activities. Team Focus & Domain Expertise : Lunar Mission Operations plays a crucial role in the successful deployment and operation of the MK2 vehicle. As a key component of our mission, Lunar Ops ensures that the MK2 vehicle is not only developed and assembled to the highest standards but also thoroughly tested and prepared for its lunar journey. This division collaborates closely with engineering, quality assurance, and logistics teams to guarantee that the MK2 vehicle meets all mission requirements and performs flawlessly in the challenging lunar environment. Their expertise and dedication are instrumental in making the MK2 vehicle a pioneering success and a cornerstone for future lunar exploration initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
  • 8 + years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
  • 5 + years of experience creating English work instructions
  • Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
  • Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Manufacturing engineering experience within aerospace or other high-reliability industries.
  • Direct experience designing, building, qualifying, and integrating pressure vessels for aerospace or industrial use.
  • Expert-level hands-on experience with building hardware, precision large-scale assembly, and complex structural and mechanical systems including launch vehicle GSE

Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.
  • Gain expertise in at least one key specialty area (solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, structures, etc.), with the desire to deepen expertise and broaden impact
