Mission Operations & Data Intelligence (MODI), part of Battle Management, Command & Control, and Networking (BMC2&N) is seeking a talented Senior Engineering Manager to lead a cross functional Systems Engineering team supporting the Portfolio programs. The candidate will have the opportunity to leverage industry best practice Digital Engineering product development lifecycles and lead a team of Systems Engineers to provide our warfighters with game changing technologies and solutions. The candidate will be expected to work with engineers, customers, and leadership to turn ideas into reality and to help carry the future of the MODI into a sustainable value stream. The manager is responsible for tactical execution of programs, performance management, employee development, talent acquisition/retention, and strategic support of the business.

Requirements

  • Successfully executed in a previous senior engineering leadership role
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills with the ability to seamlessly present to the appropriate information to numerous stakeholders.
  • Experience working with complex system-of-systems from both a development and maintenance perspective and from an architectural perspective
  • Understanding/familiarity with the following software technologies: Requirements database (e.g. DOORS, etc.), Linux, C/C++ Python or other programming languages.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable DoD Secret security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing system architectures, designs and test methodologies in a team-based environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevSecOps and test automation.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with coworkers from different communities and cultures and to engage with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
  • Experience with the following additional software technology areas: Agile project management; automated test scripting and data analysis; Security+; MATLAB.

Responsibilities

  • Perform management activities and provides leadership for approximately 12-18 Systems Engineers.
  • These activities include professional and technical development of people, providing and identifying appropriate training for people, and performance management.
  • Partner with the Systems Department Leader in the execution of MODI Capabilities and Collins Aerospace Engineering goals.

  • Oversee the direct line management activities for the section including two-way communication, performance management, career development and recognition, and talent acquisition.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external parties.

  • Innovative thought and identification of solutions to systemic issues.
  • Lead change management and be of influence when and where needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
