Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), specifically within the Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) division, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineering Manager. This role will oversee the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) activities for the Space Launch System (SLS) in New Orleans, LA. As the SLS SEIT Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leader, you will be responsible for leading a diverse team of engineers and Senior-level managers across various disciplines, including systems, testing, requirements and verification, analysis, specialty, integration, and materials engineering. Your role will involve the development and implementation of complex engineering systems for the SLS rocket. A strong grasp of systems engineering principles, coupled with exceptional leadership and communication skills, is essential. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and meet the mission needs of the NASA SLS program. Additionally, you will oversee resource acquisition, process development, continuous improvement initiatives, and foster relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience.
  • 5+ years in management or relevant leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience using systems engineering practices to plan and/or execute requirements verification.
  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing cross-functional or cross-organizational teams within engineering and/or test.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a diverse team in SEIT activities for the SLS program.
  • Develop and implement organizational plans and policies to guide strategies and objectives.
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) utilizing program management tools, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), to track cost and schedule
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and foster team development.
  • Create and implement systems engineering strategies and processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Acquire resources and lead process improvements.
  • Oversee and approve technical approaches and products.
  • Maintain effective relationships with customers, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities using established methodologies.
