The goal of a Senior Systems Engineer at Wisk is to drive the design, implementation, and certification of an integrated Vehicle Management System that includes multiple vehicle management system computers, navigation sensors, electromechanical actuators, and associated controllers (with integrated Software and Hardware). You will be part of the Vehicle Management Systems team that is accountable to deliver an integrated flight control and navigation system. This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days. In this role you will drive the integration, verification, and certification efforts of the flight control actuation system, working closely with a system supplier to do so. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine requirements and ensure system performance meets safety and operational standards. You will contribute to problem-solving activities, addressing technical challenges that arise during development and testing. You will actively participate in planning and executing test plans, analyzing results, and documenting findings. Your work will be critical to the successful development and deployment of our innovative aircraft!

  • As part of the Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) organization, and deployed in the Flight Control Systems team you will act as an Senior Systems Engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
  • You will take part in delivering and integrating a flight control system for autonomous flight
  • You will help support problem solving activities to drive increased flight control performance and safety
  • You will help coordinate testing activities, data analysis, and design development together with suppliers and other stakeholders
  • You will take part in design reviews, requirement development, and collaboration with suppliers and regulatory authorities
  • In some areas, you will be working closely with safety and certification representatives to refine a robust, certifiable design
  • You have a B.S. in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 5 years of experience in the development, integration, verification, and certification of aircraft or large integrated systems such as integrated Avionics or Flight Control Systems
  • You have hands-on experience with the integration and management of redundant systems
  • You have experience working with suppliers of complex, highly integrated systems.
  • You have worked with, and have a deep understanding of operating fundamentals and practical limitations of electromechanical actuators, their associated sensors, and their control algorithms
  • You have worked as part of a new product development environment
  • You have experience with ARP4754, ARP4761
  • You have familiarity with DO-160, DO-178, DO-254
